Adopt a dog

Today was another fun day walking my dog,Trip,in the snow. He has been such a wonderful addition to my family. I got him home from a foster rescue home just to see how I feel about having a new dog after losing the one I had adopted 6 years before. It had been only 2-1/2 months since I had to take Bandit to his vet and say a very tearful good-bye. I missed my Bandit and yet I could not bear the thought of having another dog coming to my home so soon. My girls convinced me to at least visit the foster home and meet Trip. I reluctantly drove with the girls to meet Trip and fell in love with him. Bandit was a 4 or 5 year old Border Collie that I had brought home from the animal shelter on Nov.2nd 2006. This was my first experience of having a dog in my life and now I cannot imagine my life without a dog. I am so glad that I had the opportunity, not once but twice to adopt a lost dog and share my love. I seem to have made it a mission to encourage people to adopt a dog rather than going to a breeder. Alfred A. Montapert once said,"animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal; difficult standards for people to live up to." How true is that!
